Violent Video Games Kill People

The following is my satire paper for English Class. PLEASE note that this entire paper is completely sarcastic.

Violence in video game is an enormous problem in today’s world. It is the source of all our troubles and is one of the very things that ruin all our children.

Ever since violence was introduced into video games with the very well known game, Pac Man, violence has ruled the streets and lives of our children. All over town, you could see children running about, gobbling up stones on the streets and then chancing after people in a maniacal rage, thinking they were invincible and could even eat ghosts. It has been the cause of many a long evening discussion while watching such child favorite movies, such as The Matrix, and Scar Face, while we sip on our tea and polish our rifles for the hunting season. It is so obvious that not even a common pigeon could miss it.

With the introduction of First Person games, such as Doom, and Quake, has even more increased the violence of teenagers and children all across the country. Teenagers now run rampant in the schools, with the undeniably accurate training that is giving through these games through the most realistic representation of a gun ever to cross through our highly esteemed, well monitored, homes, even the ones secured by the strictest armed guard anywhere in the country: a keyboard and mouse. Yes, it is undeniable that the similarities between these tools of evil and the common projectile weapon are innumerable. So, as the first step to combat the violence in our society, I suggest, keyboards and mice be banned all across the nation. Not only will this make our houses safer from this massive threat, but it will also restrict the access to the most evil place aloud in our society: The Internet.

Yes, that is right. The internet, although it was at one time told to us that its purpose was to more widely distribute the wealth of knowledge of the human race, is really a vast breeding ground for anger and angst. Its true purpose, for which the government created it, was to get our children to rebel against the older people in society. After the government has successfully rid the world of all the wiser and less easily swayed part of our population, they will proceed in raising the very children they have made to rebel and kill off everyone else into mindless, killing machines in order to proceed in the “Mindless Plan” for world domination. We must stop the access to this enormous filth that has plagued our society.
Another fact that has come to my attention is the fact that violent video games cause mental instability in juveniles. If you were to examine all the serial killers and murderers that have come from our adolescents, you would in fact find that every one of them suffers from mental stability issues. This is blatant evidence of the fact that these video games are causing mental problems and must be stopped immediately before the plague of retardation and dehumanization spreads any further. The very simplest way of accomplishing this would simply be to exterminate all people have experienced this evil. They should be put on the next space shuttle headed for the sun where they will die a horrible death and never bother our planet again. This is the only way to rid our planet from this certain doom that will come from these “games”.

So let us act now, before it is too late. We must take care of this problem while we are still able. We will need the support of anyone and everyone to pull through with this plan, and it must be done with great hast. I rush you to do everything in your power to help us. May peace be with you.

Well, actualy it's realy not that bad working over there. We get free food if we get hungry, and it's not like there are alot of hard things to do. I like it. Nice people, not too much work, 7 bucks an hour. It's realy not bad.

Anyway, that's about all I did all weekend, work over there. I'm working on Saturday 12-5 again. Come see me.

Steam Friends on the rebound

now, I just posted this over on the SPUF, and don't feel like retyping, so here is a quote and a link to the thread:

Well, I know there is not an official word as to when friends will be back up but I have a very good suspition it is right around the corner.

Why you ask? Open up your "FRIENDS" window in steam and you will notice, you now have a FN#XXXXXXX at the top of the window. Now, I do not remember this being there before.

I believe that this will be your "Friends Network Number" and will be the basis of what friends will work on when it does come back up. It will no longer go buy your steam acount name, but by your FN#. This way you can have whatever name you want, and it wont have problems locating you. This way you can just get someone FN# and add them by that, and everything will work great.

Now keep in mind this is just my simple Hypothisis, but it sounds good to me.

Hello, I recently purchased an Ipod nano. Over the coarse of the month two that I have had it, it has been severly scratched. These scratches are not the result of misuse, but simply from normal use(such as placing it into my pocket). As such, I would consider this a bad defect and would like to get my money back. Yes, I AM trying to get a refund for my Ipod nano, because although I think it is a realy neat little gadget, it scratches HORIBLY. So, I want my money back to go buy an Mp3 player that DOESN'T scratch like a kid who's clothes were made fiberglass. Hopefully I'll get back a favorable response soon. If not, well, I might just think about getting in on that Class Action Suit.

"I know I'm Pathetic"

Ok, so it's been a few days since a posted something, probably due to Quake 4. Yes, quake 4. I've been playing that game practicly nonstop while i'm on my pc for the past 3 days. I'd say I've put a good 15-20 hours into it. And that's only the single player part. Yup, I still havn't beeten it, but I think I'm close. It's an amazing game, probably one of my top 10 of all time, up there with the half life series. The graphics are Doom3-esque, yes, but they are pulled off much better than that game, and it's much less repetitive. It does use the same engine yeah, but again, It has a completely different atmoshere. Though, in the style of ID software, most of the guns are just remade guns from quake and Doom. No realy surprises as far as weapons. Anyway, If you have the chance, pick it up. It's DEDINATLY worth your time.

In other news, I found out yesterday that my brother got married this week. I'd just like to say congratulations and welcome to the walker family(read: nut house). His wife has 2 kids, 4 and 10(I think) so I guess that makes me their uncle, at least they told me I'm now their uncle, and if they want me to be, that's all that matters I guess. So again, congrats Paul and Shela.

I still need to get a copy of F.E.A.R.. I've played both demos and it looks absolutly amazing.

I picked up these Griffen Ear Jams at bestbuy the other day. They attach to normaly Ipod headphones and give them little in ear pieces. It makes it louder and increases the base by alot. They also drown out other noises around you by filling up the extra space in your ear. So if you have an Ipod(or even just the headphones) and don't want to buy a pair of $40 heaphones to get the "in ear" quality, pick these up. You'll be glad you did.

I read the other day that MIT has added a special feature on it's campus much like a "big brother" but it's not a whole secretive thing. With their WiFi on their campus, they give the option of people using it to identify themselves so they show up on a giant map of the campus. The map allows everyone to see where you are. So if someone wants to find you while your doing your work or something on a laptop, they can just look at the huge map. Also they are using this to keep track of the most favored spots for people to use their computers at. I don't know why, but it's MIT, they don't normaly need a reason to do some sort of research.

And finaly(yeah i know this is long) I'd like to tell you about the new Google Desktop 2. It's a much improved search bar for you desktop. But on top of that, it can also be an entire sidebar on your desktop if you would like. It can have all sorts of features depending on what you enable. So if your looking for a cool thing to play around with, check this out.

There's something behind walmart?

Ok, so who here knew that the Dunkin Donuts Office building was behind Walmart? Well it is, I didn't know that either untill today. I went to both dunkin donuts before someone told me it was there. So I was 15 minutes late for my intervue.

Yes, you heard right. I am going to be working at dunkin Donuts. I tryed everyplace else I could think of, and no-one would higher me. Probably because I havn't had a job before. And I realy do need a job too. The only income I have right now is from lawn mowing, and seeing as it's getting into winter, that's going to disapear. So, sadly, next time you goto get your dougnuts, you might very well see me behind the counter. I meen, I could work at worse places. Mcdonolds would be HORIBLE.

Ok, so I think i'm going to keep you guys informed on what realy goes on in these places in case you don't know. First of all, they have a prety scetchy training room. The walls are that dry, bland, tan color that basicly meens you're in an enviroment that you will not like. My first impression was I was in a brainwashing room. There were about 12 computers in the room, all right next to each other, angled so that no-one could see anyone elses faces without turning completely around. They all had large black earphones on, and looked as if all the life had been drained completely out of their souls. Every desk was completely identical, every computer, the same dark black, every moniter pouring the same brainwashing influences into the soon to be employees(read: victims). Sitting in the only two chairs by the door, was a younger girl, probably about 15, acompanied by her mother, who was rudely making comments about the conversation going on the in small room in the corner where the person in front of her daughter was being intervued. I meen sure, the kid did sound a little wierd, and seemed to be overly smart, but hey, you don't make rude comments and looks about someone you don't even know.

The lady who did the intervue seemed pretty nice, she didn't seem to happy about my scattered mindedness. But can you blame me? I had just driven all over town trying to find the place. I'm realy not good thinking of something I'm "proud about doing" recently when I'm kinda stressed.

Well I'm suposed to come back next week for my own training(read: brainwashing)

Finals are today and tomorow. I realy need to do some work on my english journal... well have fun little mongeese, i'm off for now.

Lost coast and other useless crap

Havn't posted in a while, not realy a whole lot going on I guess.

Lost Coast was released last night, for those of you who already own Half Life 2. Now let me inform you, this isn't a level. It's not an expansion pack. It's doesn't even extend the story at all, so if your computer can't run it, your not missing out on important stuff. Now cool stuff is another story.

Lost coast is probably one of the most amazing looking peices of software I've ever seen. The HDR lighting is so much more than you can tell from Day of Defeat Source, probably because there is more water. It also includes a neat commentary, which is a good portion of the actualy content. It explains the level design process and all that went into the high quality map. And yes, it is a single map. It takes about 5-10 minutes to complete + about another 5 with the commentary.

Screenshots realy don't do it justice, but I've got 50 of them any ;-), the screenshots are being shown with the commentary disabled. If it was enabled you would see little quote boxes you point and click the use button on to hear their commentary. It's realy nice. Because I didn't want to upload them all to blogger, I made a yahoo album of them, so here's the link for you:

Buy an ipod at the airport!

Sorry, short post for now.

Aparently a select number of airports actualy have vending machines, for example San Fransisco Iternational, that you can buy your own Ipod in. That's right, seems kinda weird to me to buy an ipod at an airport. I meen you couldn't realy put your music on it without a laptop. Which, if you have a laptop, why do you need an Ipod? Well I guess the battery might last longer on an ipod than a laptop, but i'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess that airplanes have sockets you could plug your laptop into on them. But seeing as I've never actualy ridden on an Airplane, I wouldn't know. They should though, seems kinda stupid not to. They vending machines aparently sell other things in them as well, such as digital cameras and cellphones. Those I could see a use for.

The news that brought this to my attention was this engadget post which says that the company that owns these gadget vending machines plans to expand and put it at more airports. So next time your at an airport, you may see one of these huge vending machines sitting around and decide to slide your little credit card right in and dish out several hundred dolars for a camera or something. Lets just hope that things don't get stuck in them like snack machines. Oh god that would suck bigtime.

For some reason I havn't been able to think normaly this weekend. I can't remember anything worth putting on here. It's like something is missing in my head, haha weird. So, needless to say I havn't added anything on here all weekend.

I spent last night and today(well other than sleeping) watching Office space. I've seen bits and peices of it before, but seeing the whole movie is much better. It's some funny stuff.

Half Life Source HD is a model/texture pack for halflife source to make it more worth the actual thing, rather than just nice water and reflections. They havn't released version 2.0 yet but it should be comming along soon. It looks pretty nice, can't wait.

The Doom Movie is finaly out. I havn't seen it yet, but it's been given medeocre reveiws. I typicly don't base wether I see a move or not on reveiws though, because they seem to always say movies I like are crap. I guess those idiots don't realy have sences of humor, but that's them. Ben saw it on friday when it came out and I'd like to quote him:

It's a good movie, I liked it. It doesn't realy follow the storyline of the game, but if you forget about the game it's a pretty good movie on it's own.

Well, I might go to see it, but i'm not completely sure if I want to spend any of my presious little money on seeing a movie based off a game that I don't particularly like.

I still need to call the lady back at Dunkin Donuts. I applied there last week and she called friday when I wasn't home, but I was too busy to call her back before 4 today, so i'll have to do it tomorow. Yes, that's right, I'm gonna work at dunkin donuts, I need the money. After being turned down at Movie Scene, Best Buy, Circuit City, and Gamestop, I figured I probably have my standards a bit high for a first job. So we'll see if I'm gonna be working there or not.

I found this neet little theme pack thing for windows XP. It suposedly makes it look like vista, which I'm not sure if it actualy does. But it has some pretty cool things in it. I don't feel like going into all the stuff in it so I'm just gonna recomend it to you guys. Just so you know, I don't have the Objectdock or the YZ toolbar part from it, cause those are just annoying, but I have everything else in it. Well, other than the background. So if you want it you can check it out. Due to filefront's file uploads being down for matenence, looks like your gonna have to get it from rapidshare. I don't particularly like rapidshare, but if nothing else works *shrug*

I seem to be noticing a pattern of posting late at night, often to a point where it is actualy very early in the morning. Oh well, not like it bothers anyone.

Ok so I just finished putting an application into bestbuy for the second time. I hear that they are highering a large amount of people to work over there. I think it would be an awesome place to work personaly. But I will tell you one thing, They have this HUGE QUESTIONAIRE in the application that took 20 minutes by itself. 20 pages with 5 questions a page. That's like 100 questions. And they are the kind of questions that don't seem to make sence with what you are applying for the job to do, but you know they are using it to profile you depedning on your responses. It realy is a pain, but if I get the job it would be nice.

I was actualy over there today. They have this sick little keyboard that shows you ammo and stuff on a flip up display on the top of the keyboard. Directly under the display are controls for music and videos. It looks nice, but not worth whatever it was priced(i'm assuming an exorbinate amount). Thanks but looking at the keyboard while playing a game distracts and makes it no more fun.

Ryan went with me and he got a pair of sony in ear headphones. They cost like $38 dollars, but he didn't have to pay a penny. He found a giftcard for bestbuy from his birthday last year that he never spent, so he used that, as well as about 15 of those little Best Buy Bucks that used to come with value meels at mcdonalds. He claims that their realy nice, but, then again, he's been using blown out heaphones for the past few weeks.

He sent his ipod in to have it fixed because it wouldn't turn on. GeekSquad is the biggest pain in the butt ever! "After doing some tests, we have noticed that the bad battery icon comes on" Nice job sherlock. Apparently, since it's in the second half of his 1 year warrenty, he has to pay shipping for the ipod to be sent in and come back. That is, $29 IN SHIPPING! They must be sending it freeking overnight or something for it to cost that much. But he didn't have to pay for it now, he pays when he comes to pick it up. But apparently if Apple desides that it isn't "normal ware and tear" that they will send it back unfixed and he will still have to pay the shipping. I told him that if they don't fix it just don't come in to pick it up. But still, $29 is a lot of money to ship something so small.

My heatsink mount should be comming tomorow. Then hopefully I can get back on my regular computer. HOPEfully. I think i'm going to take the fan off the old heatsink and put it in my case because I think it's the right size to fit the 70mm fan slot.

Motorola IMfree ... for free

Check this out. Do you remember the Imfree from motorola? Porbably not. Because it used to cost $120 for this little thing. It's a Wireless handheld for AIM(the messenger) so you can LOL and OMG at things people send you from up to 150 feet away from your PC. It lets you have up to 6 conversations at once. It has it's own little keyboard on it as well as the ability to select emoticons(i think). It even has remote login so if someone else wants to check their buddy list and talk with people at your house THEY DON'T NEED TO USE YOUR COMPUTER! (hint hint DANIEL)

So would I pay $120 for this? NO
Would I pay $40 for this? NO
Would I pay shipping and handling for this? Posibly.
Who would I recomend this to? BEN!!!! (then other people can actualy use your pc while daniel talks to people :()

I know I havn't realy contributed much to anything on here lately. Sorry. I've just been in a not so good mood. I feel like everything is going by me without me noticing. But no need to sound emo haha.

Haha john, "My life is a dark hell". Way to make ur docter sketched out. Who seriously says that? Obviously john,ok.

Psats were 3 hours of waisted time. It felt like i was taking sophmore tests again. There wasn't even a flipping essay! That's like the one thing i don't know if I'd do ok at. It was such a waist of time and money, there was like 2 hard questions on the whole test.

I spent most of today(other than sitting through the test) helping my dad change the brakes on his car. If you ever have to do that, try to find someone else who can. It's an absolute pain in the butt. Brake dust and crap everywhere. And the guy who tightened the lug nuts when he did the inspection on the car over torqued them so I hurt my back trying to undo them. stupid jelous machanists, we already payed you for an inspection. Don't be mad cause we don't wanna pay you another $400 for $80 worth of parts and 2 hours labor. That's like $160 an hour. That's BULLCRAP! I'd much rather do it myself. Or at least find someone I know who I can get to do it for free.

Oh and check out this car, I don't personaly know the person who owns it, but he does goto our school. Peter Aninea(sorry for butchering your name) I think.

I realy need a camera

Well I personaly think this would be a much cooler site if I had a digital camera to take pictures of stuff. Sadly though, I do not. Well, I have a little like $20 walmart camera but that's only good for far shots. So when I get a job, that's the first thing on my list.

Well you may have noticed that I havn't posted for a while, this being due to a recent rise in social actiity... hahaha. Well I've been out a lot more often recently and just am having a hard time remembering to update you guys on stuff.

A couple real big things I havn't mentioned:

MY CAR IS BEING PAINTED!
yes, it's being painted black, and I'll be getting it back tomorow or thursday, hopefully tomorow. I'll make sure to get at least pictures of that on here.
Ipod nano's have a realy sucky front face plate.
It scratches up so easily, though it has only cracked for a "select and very vocal few" acording to Apple. I'll post a picture of what mine looks like after 2 weeks of riding around in my pocket. It's not pretty. But again, as soon as I get my hands on a digital camera.
School computers run Counterstrike
:-D yaya! we've been playing it in programming for the past week. Mr. Andrews doesn't seem to care as long as we aren't suposed to be working.
Flash Drive Ahoy!
Finaly I can bring stuff home from school computers. I crumbled and bought myself a 128MB flash drive today. Payed half of the $20 in Quarters. Yup the cashier wasn't too happy, and neither were the people behind me in line. But oh well :D. I've got FirefoxPortable, Lemmings, Soldat, and "N" on there right now along with crimson editor just in case. I still have like 2/3rds of it free. I'll get a picture of that too when I can.

The pumpkin sale has started. I should know... I had to help unload the truck. I've touched about 1/3rd of all the pumpkins out in the lawn, and even though that may make them less apealing to you, you should go buy some anyway. I think there are almost 4,000 sitting on the church lawn, and though i'm not sure what the costs are yet, you might want to check it out.

We played Counter Strike on the school computers today! It was ausome. Mr Andrews is so ablivious to everything. He didn't even notice. He'll probably notice once more people are playing, but we managed fine with just 3.

Well anyway, not a whole lot to talk about.

Radion Omega Drivers

Well I deicided that since I was getting low framerates in DOD:S, I decided to install the Omega Drivers instead of the normal ones. If you are getting skipping framerates, this is for you. It makes it seems a whole lot smoother. It doesn't apear that the framerate changes by using net_graph or cl_showfps, but if you do the stress test in CS:S you'll probably be able to see an increase on that. I went from 102fps on it to 160.

So if you're worried about the skipping, try these out. They also have versions for Nvidea cards, but i've never had an nvidea card so I don't know how well those work.

So I think it's better now, I have nothing more to complain about at the moment.

Yes this is what I do while I'm at school. I've added yet another cool little feature to the site.

That's right I've added a nice little tag board. It lets you site visiters leave messages to eachother as well as see messages from other people. You simply type in your name, your site url(optional) and what you want to post.

No warnings will be given if you use it for anything I don't aprove of. So don't be retarded so I can keep it on here.

FPS issues in DOD:S

Well it seems that there is a very big problem with Framerates in DOD:S . People who can get over 100fps in CS:S are still getting below 60fps in DOD:S. it's just weird. I myself, I get between 20 and 50 fps while playing on the recomended settings. WHICH IS RETARDED! because I get 70-110 in CS:S.

I didn't realize this problem till I was at my friend Ben's house today and with his 6800 he's getting a max of 65. which is retarded.

So I love the game valve but, FIX THIS PLEASE!

UPDATE: Valve released a patch just as I was typing this. Havn't seen if it fixes anything yet. I guess I'll see tomorow.

I've added a new system for comments and stuff as you cn probably tell from the last posts. It allows trackback URL's so that you can see all the sites that have linked to my articles. That way, if you link to an article I post, you get kinda like free ad space.

Also the comment system is new, so all the old comments are gone... sorry. There were only a couple anyway.

But i'm at school right now, maybe I'll post something later tonight.

Well with dod source's release looming ever closer, the talk about it is going off the scales. People have said that the Kar no longer is a 1 hit kill, which I have reason to believe is false. Also, as you will find out tomorow, one class on each team is left without a pistol. No, i'm not going to spoil ALL your surprises, so you can just wait. The HDR effects look amazing in some of the video's I've seen. The Bar is also missing it's bipod now, which is more historicly accurate. BAR's were manufactured with the bipods, however, the majority of soldiers removed them to lighten up the load of the gun by an esitmated 2 kilograms. That's one heavy peice of metal. I think you'll also have a quite a bit of fun with the secondary weapon for the panzershreck :D. Don't know what I'm talking about? just wait and see.

So tomorow after I get home, I'll be chilling in #dodradio and #dodrelease on gamesurge until 6pm when I will promptly commence my gaming fun. I'll be in there with the nickname: "[SFYM]Noose". Well I'd like to take a moment to thank Altered Screens for their constant updates(/sarcasm). Seriously... no updates in over a week... there's two of you! *shrug* well I guess what ever suits you guys. But seeing the same post every day when I load it up with my bookmarks isn't exactly too exciting.

Well I don't realy have a whole lot to talk about, but I'm bored so, I'm gonna post something anyway.

I'm thinking of starting to play L2x again... this is the 3rd time I think. Guild Wars just gets boring with no out of town PC encounters. It's just kinda dull. If you wanna play, it's completely free. Just goto the lineage 2 site and download the client(~2GB). Then you goto the L2x site and download the patch and run it and run the updater. Then you're good to play. I used to always play on the Titan shard, but I think I'm gonna play on Staris, 'cause it's a bit slower of level gain so it doesn't get boring as fast. Maybe I'll see some of you there, My guy will most likely be Noose, message me on AIM if you realy wanna play together on there.

Legal Pot? what?

Yes, what? What is going on when actual states want pot legalized? Yes if you havn't heard, it's true. 7 States, including New Hampshire(kinda an obvious choice for a state to do this if you remember the motto is "live free or die") want to legalize pot. No, not for medical purposes, completly. They want it to be a product that can be sold in you're local grocery store, bought, and taxed, just like Cigarettes and Alcohol. This brings up so very interesting questions...

What is going on?
Did I hit my head on something today?
Am i still a sleep and having a realy funky dream?
WTF?

I can't comprehend WHY the government would want to legalize it. I meen their whole ANTI-POT campaign and their War on Drugs. This would be just about the last thing that I would think that they would come up with.
But you have to think about what they would get out of this. I meen, they could tax the shit out of this stuff and get millions of dollars from it. Not only that, but it would cut down on street drug selling and drug related crimes. We would have huge plantations of pot instead of tobacco, because we all know it would FAR outway tobacco sales.

*pauses to imagine the whole state of kansas high as the sky because one of the pot fields would "acidently" catch on fire*

Seriously though, we're they high when they came up with this?(lame pun I know) It would also cause a increase in use posibly because it's much easier to get a hold of. But realy... so many people smoke it now anyway, would it even make much of a difference? It realy does kinda weird me out seeing that headline in the paper. "in 3 - 5 years" they said. Last thing I expected to see today.
You have to wonder what kind of laws would be made to govern it though. What age would you have to be to purchase it? 18 like cig's or 21 like Alcohol? Would there be restrictions on how much you could buy at a time? Would it still be illegal to grow your own?

Well, I don't see any of this having any really anything to do with me, as I don't smoke at all. But I had nothing else to right about and needed something to do, so deal with it.

Flogging Molly is an irish rock band. Actualy from Ireland, not like Dropkick Murphy's who are from Boston but are still and Irish band. It's not like hard rock it's... I don't realy know how to describe it. But it's awesome, so here's a couple links:

Ipod Nano

Ok so... this reveiw won't include pictures i've taken. It may have pictures i've found on the net though, because of my lack of a digital camera. Here we go then.

It looks so much bigger in pictures an advertisements. When you hold it in you hand you realize the true ausomeness of how small it realy is. Yes It's about a half a centimeter long than a credit card and about 3/4's of an inch less wide. At the astonishingly small weight of 1.5oz, you might even forget you're carrying it. I meen all you realy notice in your pocket is the headphones.

And it's diminitive size sacrifices nothing as to quality. It sports an amazingly sharp color screen. Although it is hard to read without the backlight, it's long battery life makes it perfectly acceptable to set the backlight to be on for a little while after you touch it. I personaly have it set to be on for 10 seconds.

Now, about the battery life. I've had it since about 3:30 yesterday when I got it. I then charged it, and copied my music to it which was all done by about 4:30. I listened to it practicly all day and even while I was laying in bed last night. I figure out of the 6 hours that I was awake after I got it, I probably listened to it for about 3.5 hours. After checking the battery meter when I woke up this morning, I found that it was barely down at all, I'm thinking maybe it was at 80-85%. I listened to it on the buss ride and all through 1st period, which totals about 2 hours. Then i listened about 20 minutes during lunch, and probably 20 minutes during last block. So it was about 6hours and 10 mintutes. Now they say it's suposed to last 14 hours with NO backlight. And I had the backlight to about 5 seconds the entire time. So, i would say with the backlight set to come on for about 5-10 seconds when you touch it, you could probably squeeze a good 13 hours out of it. I am taking in to acount that people were fooling around with it and looking at pictures for about 30-40minutes as well. So The backlight is much more efficient then previous versions.

The photo gallery feature shows pictures at very high quality for such a little screen, which is a little bit bigger than a postage stamp, yet still perfectly readable. For some reason though at one point it didn't want to load any pictures at all. It just showed boxes on the thumbnails screen and blank screens when you tried to veiw them. I'm still not completely sure why though.

The one problem I have is with Itunes. When I plug in my ipod to my computer with Itunes not open, or not having been run yet since i rebooted, it freezes. I don't know why either. It's happened twice so far causing me to have to do a menu+select reset twice. I still have no clue why it does that.

Now I know people have been complaining about the headphone jack on the bottom, but I think it's actualy better for such a small thing. I meen it's not like you'll ever want to stand it up on it's bottom while you're listening to it anyway, not that you could balance it very well. The makes it easy to stick in your pocket and pull out without having to move it around in you're hand like you would with a Mini or a full size. You also don't have to deal with the cable drapping across your hand while you are holding it.

So over all, I'd have to say this is the best music player I've ever used, It's just missing a couple things that I think could have been added. Firstly, I wonder why they havn't allowed video playing on these yet. And second, It won't let you veiw animated images in the image veiwer. It simply keeps it on the first frame of these. but that's no big deal.

So If you've got the money and need an mp3 player, but don't have enough music to fill up a 20Gb ipod, Go for the nano. It's well worth the $200-$250 that you spend.

Metal Gear Solid 4 Media

This is my first post, obviously, so here goes nothing. Metal Gear Solid. The games have been overall very good, at least I think so, and now with the dawn of the PS3 and XBox 360 what will the newest installment of the series bring? I'm not sure about any of you, but that trailer, if you can call it that, didn't really answer many questions. But now some of the final game is comming out for us to see, and from the looks of thing it will be awsome. First off all of the graphics so far have been rendered in real-time, at that is what I've heard, and they look great. To begin with, we have Solid Snake back, and for a little bit I almost thought that the series left him back in the begining of MGS2 for a playable character, and though he's older, he looks better than ever, see for yourself. Anyways, I don't know much more about the story line, but check out the trailers and some of the screen shots, and of course post your thoughts on the game so far. I will try to report more when it comes out, I learn it, and/or I get more free time.

School PC's don't seem to like firefox

Yes, it doesn't seem to work very well at all. I think they have things up that sort of block it. It's still usable, but, you get random messages saying that the website you are trying to goto doesn't exist. But if you type the address in rather than clicking links or bookmarks it works most of the time. Though it's always slow, slower than IE if you can believe it.

Now I'm not sure that we are supsoed to even install stuff on these pc's but that's another thing :-P

DOD:S Rumors

Ok so here we go, on with the rumors:

I would like to start off by saying this is all the knowledge I've gathered, I have no inside info that is unavailable to anyone else, I'm just telling you what I know. And if i'm wrong, Don't be to upset.

Rumor #1: They have reintroduced bleeding.
Realy?: No, they havn't bleeding is not going to be put back in, they say it cause problems because beta testers would die and have no-clue why. It would make the game much more difficult for new players, and no-one wants that.

Rumor #2: They have added IronSights!
Realy?: Yes, but not on all weapons. I know it will at least be on the Garand but they have said that it is a secondary fire function. They say they have added different secondary fire options to differing guns. As of yet, No other secondary fire options for any other guns have been released, So we will have to just wait and see. There is some speculation that this meens that the rifle butt smack and the bayonet stab have been removed from the KAR and the garand, but I am still uncertain about wether or not this is true. I personaly hope that they added melee attacks to all guns instead of it being a secondary attack, but that's just me and I have no clue if they are doing it.

Rumor #3: The only maps that will be available on release are: Donner, Flash, Avalanche, and Anzio.
Realy?: As far as I know, yes. They may have more maps that they havn't shown screenshots of yet, but I am not sure. I do know however that AT LEAST those maps will be included in the release. If you click on the names of those maps above you will see screenshots of these maps. The Donner and Flash shots are new as of the 9th of September, but the avalanche one goes back to the closed beta. The flash one was released in a steam weekly update on the 1st of July. No new pictures of Avalanche have been released yet.

Rumor #4: They have redone all the player models.
Realy?: YES! they have! they all look nice and cool now. Here are 2 of the released player model screens, as well as the one in the anzio: Allies Rifleman and Axis Panzershreck(spelling?)

Rumor #5: Morters have been removed from the game.
Realy?: This isn't realy a clear issue right now. There has been talk that they have, but considering that there are no maps currently scedualed for release that included them in the begining, I don't know how anyone would know. Guess we have to wait till we see Charlie on source.

Rumor #6: The HUD hasn't changed from the original DOD.
Realy?: False. The Hud has definatly changed. The reason people think this is because no screenshots have been oficialy released that contain the new HUD. But those of you that watched the video clip on 1Up carefully know that there is a new hud. And for those of you who don't know what I'm talking about or missed it in the video, here you go. I think it looks sexy!

Rumor #7: They've added smoke grenades!
Realy?: Looks like it, but still no confirmation on it. As you can tell from the veiw in the previous screenshot, the player is running through a large field of smoke. It's not yet known if that is just part of the level, or if it is a smoke grenade, but odds are, they did for at least a few classes.

Rumor #8: DOD:S will be able to be bought on steam and from your favorite retail outlet.
Realy?: Well yes, in a way. Heres the ways you can obtain DOD:S:

Buy the Steam Silver($60) or Gold($85) packages via steam and be allowed to download and play as soon as it's released.
Package contents can be found hereThese packages are available right now for purchase on steam
Buy it seperatly on steam up to a week in advance and pay just $20, and be allowed to preload and play the second it's released. This option will be available One week before the game is released, giving you time to preload.
Buy the Counter Strike: Source Multiplayer retail pack, which includes CS:Source, HL2:DM and DOD:Source for the price of $40. This package is to be released on September 27th.

Rumor #9: They have already anounced a release date
Realy?: Yes you inobservant person, It is going to be released on the 26h of September.

Rumor #10: Weapons that are Full Auto now have fire mode selectors.
Realy?: Though I'm not intirely sure, it does apear to be correct to the best of my knowledge. Not quite sure how they will be implementing it though.

Rumor #11: There are grenades you can shoot!
Realy?: YES! some rifles can shoot grenades using a special addition. The grenades, however cannot be primed, and do not blow up on impact, but they go hella far!

Rumor #12: You can no longer prime grenades :(
Realy?: FALSE! You can prime grenades, this was just a bug in the beta.

Rumor #13: Rounds end when all flags are captured.
Realy?: NO! When all the flags are captured, the other team can no longer respawn, and the ones alive are left to be slaughtered by the people with all the flags. Wether or not they can cap flags back after they have all been taken is still not sure.

Rumor #14: If you are reloading and MG and a grenade lands near you, you are gonna die, just like in the original.
Realy?: No! Now you can cancel reloading of Mg's to stand up and run away.

Rumor #15: You can deploy an MG on any flat surface, not just specific spot.
Realy?: Correct my friend! Any flat surrace is now your honorary slaughter house!

Rumor #16: There are no more ambient gunfire sounds.
Realy?: True! all background sounds come from actualy things happening in the game.

That's right people. What everyone fills in in your "blogs" realy isn't that informative to anyone. I know some people like to just put in their daily life into these things, but really, it's not that interesting. Not to insult anybody(well actualy, yes it is) but all anyone ever seems to do is yap about nosense and everything is so exciteding and blah blah blah blah blah! It pisses me off in all truth. I meen if something realy ausome happened, that's one thing, but your new pair of shoes doesn't realy interest anyone, except your couple of friends that thing everything is cool just like you do.

So people, HOW ABOUT SOME ACTUAL CONTENT? Like maybe your own take on a news article, or your opinion about something going on in the real world? Sure once in a while it's ok to tell people about your day, but not all the time.

I meen, Come ON! You're giving the most free speech anyone has ever had to express what you think about things and what do you do? You talk about the trip to the mall you went to.

Now even I (yes, i'm admiting i do the same thing sometimes) ocaisonaly go on and on about my day, but it's normaly because I have absolutly nothing else to do. But I try to stay away from doing that. I actualy try(believe it or not) to be a little more productive.

So that's my message to all you "bloggers" out there, don't fill your ability of free speech and publication with useless junk.

Blogs/bloggish sites I actualy goto because they have some sort of actual content:

Well this looks like the sexyest MP3 player EVER! If i had the money I would go buy it RIGHT NOW. Everyone who has reveiwed it says all the features, including size, battery life, and everything else work just like advertised or better. That's right people. It's the spawn of the Ipod mini, the ipod photo, and the ipod shuffle all in one! It boast a 2 or 4 gigabyte hardrive just like a mini. It's 67% of the size of an Ipod mini, AND you can store and carry around you're photos to show people. This is perfect for me because i don't have HUGE amounts of music like some people. It also comes in black which is AUSOME! So now you can listen to your music, see the album art and the menus in Color AND show off the photos of that party you barly remember to your friends. I can't wait!

Itunes Phone Revealed For Cingular Customers
Basicly an ipod shuffle with a screen and that you can call people with. You can also buy music but i hear the price per track is $2 bucks to have it sent to your phone, but that's still just a rumor. I don't want one, especialy with it's price up there with an Ipod nano at $250. It's revalutionary and cool, but I don't want one.

I went to see transporter 2 today. Luckily enough I didn't have to pay for it because my little brother somehow got my mom to promise to take him and as usual they dragged me along.

Well, this movie was seriously lacking. Where you ask? Well, the plot was weak, if any. It was mostly just a guy driving cool cars and beeting the shit out of people. Aparently there was something about a virus and him finding a vacine or something, but the fighting and stuff was pretty much all that happened.

Don't get me wrong, this was some pretty hardcore fighting. He flipped and jumped and killed people. He had a gun at one point but never shot anyone. He like dives out windows and knocks like 20 guys around at the same time with a fire hose and other crazy stuff like that.

Maybe the whole thing would have made more sense if I had seen the first one, but I havn't so *shrug*

Actualy, i don't think he "transported" anything in the whole movie.

So if you want to go see a movie that will move you and keep you wondering what's going to happen next, go see something else. BUT if you just want to a guy do some cool driving and serious whooping, this is the movie for you

It's a sad day for the counterstrike comunity when the greatest modeler alive retires from the business. Yes, Darkelfa is no longer be making any more of his amazing models.

He revealed in This thread on CSDL not only his final model (a green verse tan army men reskin set) but that:

I am trying to quit smoking as Mullet knows well, so a lack of nicotine and my daughter in my ear doesn't help my mood. I have cancer and far too much stress to for this kind of crap and it's just starting to get to me. maybe I should just take a break.

so slap me, i can't decide where to post stuff. I've decided that i'm gonna try and keep it here, not only because it's simpler, but because I love google :-D. Yes Google is my friend, and this being another google site, I trust it. So, you want old posts? go find your old book mark!
